Your tour will start from 2Therissos Village, a small Cretan village, situated 16 km from Chania town. This village has a remarkable history, intrinsically interwoven with the freedom and independence of the Cretan people. The beautiful Thériso Gorge with its dramatic scenery can be seen from the road as it runs along the bed of the gorge for 6 km, accompanying the tree-lined river and surrounded by chestnuts and oaks. The gorge is a perfect place for a walk and is very popular with the rock climbers and hikers.

The famous politician and statesman, Eleftherios Venizelos, born in Mournies in Chaniá prefecture in 1864, started the revolution of 1905 in the village of Therisos. The inaccessibility of the village, enclosed by mountains, made it difficult to capture.

Then, you will head to 3Zourva Village, located in the hinterland of Crete, 24 km away from the town of Chania. From there, a tarred but steep road leads to the border of Lefka Ori. You will see the pine tree forest which grows just above the inhabited area, the gorge of Tromarisa and the spectacular view towards the North and the sea.

Next stop is the 4Meskla Village. Meskla is a small and quiet traditional village, 21 kilometer southwest of Chania and built at an altitude of 200 meters in the hills in the valley of the river Keritis and behind it towering the White Mountains.

Meskla is situated between green hills in the nature of the fertile Keritis Valley and has the traditional stone houses. Through the valley runs a river, and you can see the White Mountains on the horizon. The village of Meskla was destroyed during the Venetian period (when the leader of the revolt, Kantanoleon, had his headquarter in Meskla) and also during the Turkish period. Fortunately, the two of significant Byzantine churches in the village has survived the destructions.
